Fortune by Focus on the 20%!

The 80/20 rule can be used to direct strategic and financial improvement. Marketing, Selling, analysis, management, negotiation. Many positive things happen because of the minority of productive activities.


When it comes to Decision Making 80% of data collection and analysis in the first 20% of time available will have the best results.


When we are working on Project Management for the renovation process we find that 80% of the value of a project will come from 20% of the actions taken.


When Negotiating 20% of the discussed points will hold 80 percent of the disputed item. We will definitely expand these amazing revelations in upcoming blogs!


This simple rule can help in almost any situation. In real estate we find that 20% of the investors own 80% of the properties in a given area. When a homeowner tries to sell their house quickly as a FOR SALE BY OWNER they find that only 20% of the leads have any validity and then only 20% of those leads are actually qualified to make the purchase. This is when the For Sale By Owner person realizes there is a lot more to selling a piece of real estate than meets the eye!


As real estate investors we try to set up systems to help funnel all the leads down to the valuable 20% and shed the other 80%. When we post an ad we have an automated response with a link for the potential lead to enter very basic information to move forward in the process. This eliminates the tire kickers. Then we create another response requiring another action on their part to continue on with the process. These stages of required effort and action often weeds out the 80% of unmotivated leads. I will cover some of these semi-automated systems in a future blog.


The 80/20 rule is clearly at play when we are searching for motivated sellers. If we are running Google Ads we see that 20% percent of our Keywords receive 80% of the leads. Terms such as SELL MY HOUSE FAST MOUNT CARMEL PA and HOUSE FOR RENT MOUNT CARMEL PA have shown to receive 80% of the hits in our campaigns. We find that of the people searching SELL MY HOUSE only 20% of them are motivated. And again only about 20% of them are in a position to act.


As you can see this rule is very simple and very exciting. I REALLY enjoy taking out a sheet of paper or my Google Keep list and put down all the things I do for my business. Then I move the most powerful things I do to the top. Oddly enough it seems 20% of the things I do produce 80% of the outcome!! Go figure!!
